Cookie Policy
prospectworks.online sets no cookies. That is not an oversight or a temporary state: the site is built so that nothing needs to be stored in a reader's browser, which is why there is no consent banner anywhere on it.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file that a website asks a browser to store and send back on later visits, which lets the site recognise a returning browser. Cookies are used for useful things such as keeping a person signed in, and for tracking, such as following a browser across different websites to build an advertising profile.
What this site does
This site sets no cookies of its own and permits no third party to set cookies through it. To be specific, none of the following is present on any page: analytics of any kind, advertising or remarketing tags, conversion or tracking pixels, A/B testing tools, heat-mapping tools, chat widgets, social media buttons or embeds, embedded video players, and comment systems. No session identifier is issued, because there are no sessions — every page is a static file and the server holds no state about who requested it.
Because nothing is stored and nothing is tracked, there is nothing to obtain consent for, and this site displays no cookie banner. A consent banner on a site that sets no cookies would be a false statement about what the site does, and readers are entitled to assume that a banner means something.
What happens instead
Two things occur when a page is requested, and neither involves a cookie.
- The web server writes a log entry. It records the IP address of the connecting device, the browser user agent, the URL requested, the timestamp and the response status. This is ordinary server logging performed by the hosting provider, kept for no longer than 30 days and used for security and diagnostics. The privacy policy covers it in full.
- The browser fetches two files from this domain — one stylesheet and one small script, both served from prospectworks.online. No file is requested from any other host. This site uses no web font service, no content delivery network and no external image host, so rendering a page here contacts no company other than the one hosting it.
No local storage, and no fingerprinting
The site does not use localStorage, sessionStorage or IndexedDB, and stores nothing in the browser by any other mechanism. It does not attempt browser fingerprinting — the practice of identifying a browser from a combination of its characteristics, such as installed fonts, screen dimensions and rendering behaviour — and it runs no script that collects such characteristics. The only JavaScript on the site opens and closes the navigation menu on small screens; it is served unminified from this domain and can be read in full at /assets/main.js.
Links to other websites
Pages here link to other sites, including Australian government services and the website of the software vendor covered in this library. Once a reader follows a link, they are on someone else's site and that site's own cookie and privacy practices apply, not this one. Those practices are outside the publisher's control, and a reader concerned about them should read the policy of the site they have arrived at. The affiliate disclosure explains which of those links are paid.
Controlling cookies in a browser
Nothing on this site needs to be blocked, but every major browser lets a reader see which cookies are stored, delete them, block them from particular sites, and block third-party cookies generally. The controls sit in the privacy or site-settings section of the browser's settings, and browsers also offer a private or incognito window that discards site data when it closes. Blocking cookies across the web will break sign-in on sites that depend on them; it will have no effect here.
If this ever changes
If a cookie, a tracking tag or any form of analytics is ever introduced to this site, this page will be updated to describe exactly what is set and why, and a working consent mechanism will be in place before the first cookie is written — in the same change, not afterwards. No cookie name is listed on this page today, because listing one that is not set would be untrue.
